5/18/2009 - Cabin damage

The Dawson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating damage that was sustained to a rural Cozad cabin near the river. Sometime prior to Saturday, May 16th, 2009 person(s) unknown approached the rural cabin and damaged a window located on the east side of the cabin. It did not appear that perpetrator(s) entered, however damage to the property was done. 4/6/2009 - Gothenburg Jewelry Burglary

The Gothenburg Police Department is currently investigating a residential burglary. Sometime between 9:00pm and 9:45pm on March 12th, 2009, person(s) unknown gained entry to a home possibly by compromising a window. Once inside, the suspect(s) removed between $2,00 and $3,000 worth of jewelry including a watch, necklaces, and earrings. Any information that results in an arrest of whoever is responsible will receive a cash reward.

2/23/2009 - Cozad Motor Scooter Theft

The Cozad Police Department is investigating the theft of an electric motor scooter. The scooter was recovered from a drainage ditch and is believed to have been stolen. The police department is seeking the public’s help in locating the owner. If you have any information on this or any other crime, call the crime stoppers hotline or submit a web tip.

2/16/2009 - Gothenburg HVAC thefts

The Gothenburg Police Department is currently investigating the theft of Carrier brand air conditioner and furnace. Sometime between August of 2008 and January 15th, 2009, person(s) unknown entered a residence located in the 300 block of Cottonwood Drive. Once inside, the subject(s) proceeded to take newer models of a Carrier air conditioner and a Carrier furnace. Anyone with information is encouraged to call our hotline, submit a web tip, or text tip.

2/2/2009 - Rodney Marshall Homicide

On Sunday, March 23rd, 2008 at approximately 8:30pm, the Dawson County Sheriff`s Office was notified that Rodney Marshall of rural Lexington was found deceased in his home.

Once on scene they determined that Mr. Marshall`s death was possibly a homicide and proceeded as such.  An autopsy was conducted and the manner of death was consistent with a homicide.

The Dawson County Sheriff`s Office is currently appealing to the public for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for the death of Rodney Marshall.

1/5/2009 - Gothenburg Flag Theft

The Gothenburg Police Department is currently investigating theft and criminal mischief in the 1700 block of "F" Street. Sometime between the hours of 9:00pm on 12-22-08 and 8:00am on 12-23-08, person(s) unknown stole two flags from a flagpole at the above location. During the theft three spotlight fixtures and bulbs used to illuminate the flags were destroyed. The first flag is a 3’X5’ American flag and the second is a 3’X5’ POW-MIA flag, black and red in color.

11/24/2008 - Cozad Charter Communications
 The Cozad Police Department is currently investigating a burglary that occurred at the Charter Communications office located at 305 West 8th Street in Cozad. Sometime after 6:00pm on 10/27/08, person(s) unknown gained entry into the business and removed a 32" LG brand flat screen television. The television is valued at or around $800 and a fair amount of damage to the business was sustained. Call or submit your anonymous tip now on this felony case and we’ll put CASH in your wallet.

11/10/2008 - Gunshot mailbox

The Dawson County Sheriff`s Office is investigating the damage of a mailbox north of Cozad.  Sometime around 9:00am on Sunday, November 9th, person(s) unknown shot the mailbox six times, possibly using a .22 caliber shot.  Any information that leads to the arrest of whoever is responsible will receive a cash reward.

11/10/2008 - Cozad Vehicle "eggings"
The Cozad Police Department is currently investigating the "egging" of several vehicles on Friday, November 7th.  Sometime between 9:00pm and 10:30pm, around fifteen vehicles were reported to have eggs thrown at them.  Several of the vehicles sustained paint and body damage, which makes this prank a felony.  If you heard, or know of those responsible, submit a web tip now, text tip, or call our hotline.  Any arrest will result in a cash reward.
