The Cozad Police Department is investigating a report of vandalism. The vandalism occurred at the Cozad Bible Church located at 16th and O street in Cozad.

On the night of Wednesday January 25, after 12:30 a.m. an unknown person(s) vandalized the Cozad Bible Church. The person(s) damaged several areas of the Cozad Bible Church. A vehicle belonging to the Church was also damaged during the incident. The damage is estimated at approximately $5,000 dollars.

The Cozad Police Department is investigating several burglaries. During the night time hours begining on January 11, 2012 several burglaries took place throughout the City of Cozad.The reported burglaries have been to several self storage units and a trailer belonging to a local business.

  Sometime between January 1st and January 2nd 2012, Unknown subject(s) broke into a storage building at 608 West Hwy 30 in Lexington, Nebraska. Items taken include a large generator and a 14 inch saddle along with several other items. The loss is estimated at $6,000.00.

   On 12-16-2011, between the hours of 9:00 and 9:30 p.m. person(s) broke out a picture window valued at approximately $700.00 at a residence located  in the 1400 block of South Adams Street in Lexington, Nebraska.

   The Dawson County Sheriff`s Office is investigating a theft. On 12-20-2011,  Tyson Meats reported a theft of copper wire valued at approximately $5,100.00. The wire was reported stolen from the Tyson warehouse.

The Gothenburg Police Department is currently investigating several reports of criminal mischief to Christmas decorations. During the week of December 5th thru the 11th unknown person(s) driving an SUV or pickup damaged the decorations in various locations of Gothenburg. The estimated damages range from $50.00 to several hundred dollars per incident.

  The Dawson County Sheriff`s Office and Lexington Police Department are investigating a hit and run incident that resulted in the death of Domingo Lujan, Jr. of Oxford, Ne. on December 6th 2011.

Mr. Lujan, Jr. was drug under a vehicle from near the intersection of East Walnut Street and County Road 435, south to the intersection of County Road 435 and Prospect Road, then west to the intersection of Prospect Road and Industry Road where the body was located, covering a distance of approximately 1 1/4 miles.

Preliminary autopsy results revealed the cause of death of Domingo Lujan, Jr. was blunt force trauma.

The Cozad Police Department is investigating a residential burglary which occurred in the 600 block of East 10^th street. The burglary occurred on November 12^th, 2011. The owners of the residence reported leaving at approximately 4:00 p.m. and returning at approximately 1:00 a.m. on November 13^th, 2011.

The owners reported finding the front door being pried open upon their return to the residence. The owners reported that the home appeared in disarray. The home owners reported several item of property missing from the residence. An approximate total of $10,000 of personal property including jewelry audio visual equipment was reported missing.
